Dr. Burcu Saner Okan earned her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey, in 2005, followed by a Master's degree in 2007 and a Ph.D. in 2011 in the Materials Science and Engineering program at Sabanci University. Dr. Saner Okan served as the Academic Director of the Sabancı University Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center between March 2022-May 2024. She is currently a faculty member specializing in Materials Science and Nanoengineering and Manufacturing Technologies at Sabanci University since 2020. Moreover, she is co-founder of Nanografen and Euronova companies. With her expertise encompassing sustainable nanomaterial development, functional coatings, circular economy utilizing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach, multiscale and multifunctional composites, and functional membrane development for energy and wastewater treatment, Dr. Saner Okan has made significant contributions to her field. She has authored over 60 articles published in esteemed international journals, 8 book chapters, 1 registered patents and 5 ongoing patent applications, and has presented more than 50 conference papers. She has secured $5.0 million in funding for national and international projects and leads sustainable entrepreneurial initiatives with industrial partners.
