Currently, he works at the SU-IMC as Advanced Composite Manufacturing Laboratory Leader.
Dr. Çağatay Yilmaz has received his B.Sc. degree in Physics from Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul in 2011. He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering Program at Sabancı University in 2013 and 2018, respectively. He has been supported by the TUBITAK under the 2214-A International Research Fellowship Program for his Ph.D. studies in University of Victoria, BC, Canada. His Ph.D. thesis was awarded by Gursel Sonmez Research Award by Sabanci University.
During his M.Sc. degree, he worked on the micro-capsule based self-healing epoxy resin system for Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) application. His doctoral study involved micro-damage evaluation of composite material with Acoustic Emission, thermal camera, and fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor. He has experience in the mechanical testing and manufacturing of thin-composite structures. With a strong background on composite structures, he involved several academic and industrial TUBITAK projects and publish several research papers related to testing of composite structures with his colleagues. He also worked as a project leader in a global bus manufacturer company, TEMSA and joined several weight reduction projects of intercity and intracity buses.
